Sunny skies and mild temperatures were enjoyed by members of the West Nipissing ATV Club as they had their first ride of the season leaving from
Field and travelling to Desjardins Maple Sugar Farm about 20 kms away off Pike Lake Road. It was a great turnout of members and guests, with a
count of over 40 ATVs, it truly made this ride look like an ATV “convoy”! The ride was led by George Leuszler and was tailed by Denzil Stillar, who
were in constant radio communication with each other thanks to the club’s newly acquired two way VHF radios, as well as prepared for any
emergencies with the club’s SPOT satellite locator. Upon arriving at Desjardins Maple Sugar Farm, riders enjoyed their lunches, and were treated to
Maple Toffee courtesy of owner Gilbert Desjardins. After spending some time viewing the maple sugar operation and socializing, the riders
departed the farm and returned to the parking lot next to the newly constructed River-View Market where some were able to get refreshments and
light snacks.
